Fantastic Employment Outcomes for Centacare’s Recent Ageing Course Graduates

2018 is off to a fantastic start at Centacare as we recently hosted our first graduation morning tea for the year.

This time we had lots to celebrate; more than half of the students who recently completed their Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) have been offered employment following their work experience at various aged care facilities around Perth. This is an amazing result and full credit goes to the hard work of the students and their trainer, Ana.

The students and their families celebrated with lots of cake, laughter and some (happy) tears, proud of the hard work they have put in over the last 4 months.

“I’d like to thank Ana; I think she prepared us so well for our work placement,” said mature-age student, Judith.

“We went out there confident that we knew how to do the job and it showed in the number of people that have been offered work.”

Judith went on to say how much she enjoyed the course and the diversity of the class.

“It’s been a wonderful experience for me personally,” she said. “When I started the course I had spent about four months totally alone … it was a bit overwhelming to begin with!”

“But it has just been the most wonderful group; we span the ages and the genders and nationalities and we’ve all come together and shared our individual personal stories and our own opinions on what we’ve been learning about.”

“It’s been really wonderful for all of us to have all those different perspectives and also for us to work so well as a group, considering just how diverse we are. Thank you Ana, and thank you everyone else.”

Many of the students were eager to express their gratitude to Ana for her support and for sharing her extensive knowledge and experience in the industry.

“You’ve made the course really enjoyable for everyone,” said young student, Jasmine. “I’ve actually looked forward to getting up every day and coming to the course – thank you so much.”

David, a mature-age student, was also keen to express his gratitude.

“Thank you to Ana for imparting her wisdom on the subject that we came here to learn about – you helped us out a lot,” he said.

“I’m ex-military and this was the first civilian course I’ve done in probably over 20 years, so thank you very much for your support. Even the other trainers who were around and pointed us in the right direction, that was great.”

Centacare’s next Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) starts on March 26th. The class is filling up quick so contact us to register your interest today.
